Tenderness – And Me,

When I was a child, I clasped my hands in prayer each night and hoped with all my heart. I wrapped my life up in wonder and found beauty in the mud. Afraid of little and curious of much, I found friends in strangers and when the earth asked me to trust, I’d fall back, ready to be caught, with eyes shut and arms tightly crossed. When I was a child, I surrendered my tender heart to swell and break. To love and ache. To believe and be ever-amazed. I plan to do the same for the rest of my days. To choose courage over fear, gentleness over judgement and tenderness over hate. I’ll take risks instead of second-guessing, staying soft and sweet all the same. And when some might call it crazy, I’ll simply say it’s love.
