Poetry Prints

Story of the store

Born out of a lifelong love for poetry and a desire to tell tales of hope during a difficult year, Words By Elle was launched in May 2020. In a nutshell, the project began with a broken typewriter (found in a quiet corner of Broadway Market, Hackney), a few scraps of brown Kraft paper pinned to my bedroom wall (marked with handwritten warm words & poetry) and a few old books packed with pressed wild flowers (collected from the Welsh countryside).

In a bid to bring these three elements together, I started designing framed poetry prints. Next up, I partnered with a lovely, local screen printer (Squeeze Print Studio) who helped bring the product to fruition.

The idea was (and always will be) to create simple yet beautiful prints – perfect for gifting to friends, loved ones, or even strangers.

My hope is that these words will bless you  - bringing an extra ounce of warmth and peace to your home, wherever you may find yourself.

We run, unconfined.

Barefoot without burden. The spring in our step is light and our cares – they drift heavenward. Chasing horizons of possibility, pregnant with hope, met by joy, kissed by freedom.

From moment to moment, breath to breath, to have and to hold – Peace, be with you. Peace, your inheritance. Peace, pass it on. Peace, be still…

In a world where they could see anything, they let their eyes align to see the Light. Where some saw chaos, still, they found peace. Where others only saw grey, they chose to live in colour. Leaning in, they let themselves be moved – in heart and soul. Even in the unrest of it all.

As for them, they listened to the sound of Hope…
